Catalytic Converter Replacement in Stockton, CA

Welcome to Toole’s Garage Stockton – your one-stop auto repair shop in downtown Stockton. If your vehicle is signaling catalytic converter problems, or if the catalytic converter has been stolen, give us a call – we can help. Catalytic converter replacement used to be a rare event. Catalytic converters have no moving parts, so they rarely fail. Unfortunately, as the price of precious metals increased (platinum, palladium and rhodium), thieves realized that stealing catalytic converters can be a lucrative pursuit. Thousands of catalytic converters are stolen throughout the country every day. Sadly, we have seen a fair share of cars without a catalytic converter – and even though Toyota Prius Gen 2 and Honda Element are the most popular targets, no make is immune.

Catalytic converters clean up emission gases before they come out of the exhaust pipe. They burn up any incompletely burned fuel and air mixture, and also split polluting molecules into simpler, less harmful substances – water vapor, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Platinum, rhodium and palladium are used as catalysts in this process. These precious metals are targeted by the thieves.

Replacing a failed catalytic converter is a straightforward repair, even with stringent California air quality laws (we will need your vehicle’s VIN number to order correct catalytic converter for your car). When the catalytic converter is stolen, there are additional repairs and costs due to damage to other components during the theft – oxygen sensor is one of the most often damaged parts during catalytic converter theft. Fortunately, our nationally ASE certified technicians can inspect your vehicle and get if fixed regardless of the extent of the damage.

Symptoms of Catalytic Converter Failure

  1. Check engine light will be illuminated
  2. Loss of power
  3. Car engine may be running rough
  4. Engine may misfire

If you notice any of the above symptoms, bring your car to our Stockton auto repair shop for a checkup. The good news is that above symptoms do not always mean catalytic converter has failed, but they are serious enough to warrant professional inspection of the engine, the catalytic converter and the emissions system.

At Toole’s Garage we will also provide you with an electronic copy of the free digital vehicle inspection we perform, so you understand the overall condition of your vehicle. If the catalytic converter was stolen, it’s likely thieves damaged other components, and our inspection will uncover the extent of the damage. Our service advisor will let you know exactly what components need to be replaced and cost of the repairs.

So if you turn on your engine in the morning, and hear a roar, a telltale sign that catalytic converter is gone, or if you see the signs that indicate the catalytic converter is failing, bring your vehicle to Toole’s Garage in Stockton. We offer friendly atmosphere, clean and spacious repair facility, and nationally ASE certified technicians who will take great care of your car. You can also anticipate:

  • 36 months / 36,000 miles nationwide warranty on all repairs
  • Nationally ASE certified technicians working on your vehicle
  • Original Equipment equivalent or better quality parts
  • In most cases, same day service completion
  • Military and First Responders discounts
  • Local Lyft for your convenience
