Acura RDX Service in Stockon, CA

Did you know that the Acura RDX was the first compact crossover SUV that Acura ever produced, and it is the smallest SUV Acura makes? Before the RDX was made, the Acura MDX was the entry-level SUV for the brand. The first Acura RDX models went on sale in 2006 when they replaced the Acura Integra in the brand’s catalog. Like the Integra, the RDX has been extremely popular since its introduction at the New York Auto Show.

The first generation Acura RDX models featured one of the few Honda turbocharged engines, and the initial 2006 models received a perfect “5 Star” rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for driver and passenger frontal crashes, front and rear side impacts. The first generation models got a bit of a facelift in 2009, including adding the trademark Acura front grille.

Beginning in 2012, the second generation of the popular Acura RDX hit the market. These vehicles featured the simpler electric power steering and all-wheel-drive systems from Honda, making the newer models of the RDC roomier, quieter and more comfortable than their older siblings do. The first of the newer Acura RDX cars in the showroom are the 2013 model year versions.

The updated RDX has a larger V-6 engine with a 6-speed transmission replacing the smaller 4-cylinder engine and 5-speed transmission. The overall dimensions of the Acura RDX have changed, as well. The wheelbase is longer and wider, which allows more space for cargo and passengers. Even with the larger engine and overall size of the vehicle, the newer RDX gets better gas mileage than older models! Safety ratings continue to be Five-Star, thanks to Acura’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, which absorbs energy and protects cabin occupants during collisions.
